Kelley, Nancy (21 JUL 1962)

Marriage vows between Miss Nancy Kelley and Richard Brown were repeated Saturday morning July 21, 1962, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.  The Rev. Raymond H. Schulz read the double ring service before a nuptial high mass at eleven o’clock.

Mr. and Mrs. George Kelley and Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Brown are the parents of the bridal couple.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white organza.  The long sleeved bodice featured a scalloped neckline with pearl trim and lace was used to trim the bodice and very full skirt.  She wore a fingertip veil of silk illusion.  Attached to a crown of pearls and carried a cascade arrangement of yellow roses and white mums.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was her twin sister, Miss Mary Kelley of Tomahawk.  The bridesmaids were Mrs. Dennis Abrams of Mason City, Ia., sister of the groom, and Mrs. Francis Smith of Green Bay, a cousin of the bride.

They were all dressed alike in street length frocks of orange ice taffeta with bouffant skirts draped to a self-material rose at the waist.  They wore small matching cap headpieces with small tulle veils and carried bouquets of bronze mums tied with white satin bows.

S/Sgt. Tom Brown of the air force, Pemberton, N.J., served as best man for his brother.  Pat Kelley, Abbotsford a brother of the bride, and Melvin Lewis of Green Bay, a cousin of the bride, were groomsmen.

John Kelley, another brother of the bride, and Michael Vanden Avond of Antigo, a cousin of the bride, were the mass servers, and Gary Koehler and Lyle Blaire seated the guests at the church.

For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Kelley chose beige linen a sheath dress trimmed with lace and had deeper beige accessories.  Mrs. Brown wore a light green ensemble of Dacron linen and beige accessories.  Both mothers had corsages of yellow roses.

A corsage of yellow and white carnations was presented to the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Henry Schultz of Green Bay.

After the ceremony, a 12:30 o’clock dinner was served to about 150 guests at the church hall.  Other festivities included a reception and supper at the home of the bride’s parents and a wedding dance at Sportsmen’s Park.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Brown left on a short honeymoon trip and are at home at Colby, route 1.

Both young people are graduates of the Abbotsford High School.  The bride is employed as a bookkeeper at Marathon-Clark Cooperative Dairy Association at Abbotsford, and the groom is engaged in farming with his father.
